Pleudihen-Sur-Rance: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pleudihen-sur-Rance lies on the right bank of the Rance between the corsair city of Saint-Malo and the medieval town of Dinan.

Character and Culinary Delights

Pleudihen galettes are made in the municipality of Pleudihen-sur-Rance. The Musée du Cidre Prié presents an exhibition about apples in a restored traditional farmhouse. Traditional cooperage and barrel-making techniques are demonstrated there; visitors can also tour a new cider press, where the steps involved in cider production are explained. At the museum, products from its own orchards, which are certified organic, can be sampled.

Culture and History

The parish church of Notre-Dame in Pleudihen-sur-Rance features construction phases from 1867, 1878 and 1898. The stained-glass windows of the parish church of Notre-Dame were installed between 1871 and 1876 by François Fialeix of the Manufacture de vitraux de Mayet.

Historical documents also refer to the development of the town: the ferry service at Mordreuc was moved upstream by a prefectural order dated 2 July 1858. A sales contract from 1803 records that the building of the Pont de Cieux mill housed two mills under the same roof: one for fresh water and one for seawater.

Hiking

The Mordreuc–La Chapelle–Le Prat hike passes a harbour, a beach, old houses, châteaux, tidal mills, the banks of the Rance, flower-filled villages and the local terroir.

The historic sites St. Catherine Tower, Governor Tower and Jerzual Gate are located in the vicinity of Pleudihen-sur-Rance.
