La Richardais: apartments and holiday homes

In La Richardais, the Espace EDF Odyssélec offers interactive exhibitions and panoramic views of the turbine hall of the tidal power station on the Rance. A one-hour guided tour covers the history of its construction and how the tidal power station works. A freely accessible outdoor trail provides information about the site and allows visitors to watch boats pass through the lock.

Culture and history

The Egyptian sculptor Pierre Manoli came to La Richardais in 1975 and used fire as one of his most important sculpting techniques. The Musée Manoli is located at his former home and studio and presents almost 200 works in several rooms and a wooded garden. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, guided tours, culinary visits and educational workshops throughout the year, by prior registration.

The Church of Saint-Clément is one of seventeen churches designed by Xavier de Langlais. Six bunkers built by the Organisation Todt in 1943/1944 as part of the Atlantic Wall can be seen on Rue des Hurettes and Rue de la Sapinière. From the quay, visitors can see the old fishing boat LE CHASSEUR, a 6.13 m long and 2.37 m wide mackerel fishing boat built in 1931 by the Guerlavas shipyard in La Richardais for Monsieur Jean Lucas from Pleurtuit.

Nature and landscapes

The Anse des Grandes-Rivières lies within a Natura 2000 area. On the tidal flats, visitors can watch birds searching for food. The Pointe du Grognet offers 360-degree panoramic views of the Rance estuary and is a shady spot for walks. The path through the Vallée Hourdel makes it possible to observe the wildlife and plant life in a wooded valley.

Water and trails

The Centre Nautique de La Richardais offers sailing and rowing courses, as well as rental of windsurfing boards, dinghies, catamarans, sea kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Freshwater fishing is possible at the Étang de la Garde. The Anse du Moulin Neuf anchorage area is very well protected from the wind and choppy waters due to its location between the two banks of the Étanchet stream estuary.

The Entre Terre et Mer route starts in La Richardais and is 7.0 km long. It follows the GR®34C coastal path towards the Barrage de la Rance, passes behind the ferry terminal and uses an underground pedestrian passage at the dam lock. The route leads to the discovery of the Anse des Grandes Rivières and the Barrage de la Rance. The GR®P from La Richardais to Le Minihic-sur-Rance starts at the car park of the Barrage de la Rance in La Richardais. The Du centre-ville à la campagne cycling route starts in La Richardais and is 6.6 km long.
