A defining feature of Plounérin is the Étang du Moulin Neuf: the body of water covers 16 hectares and is fed by the River Yar. From its observation hide, overwintering birds can be watched unobtrusively; with a little patience, otters may also be spotted there.

Nature and landscape

Ty Kerliziri, a covered picnic area, toilets and the observation hide can be reached from the Kerliziri car park. From the car park at the dam, visitors can reach a fishing area equipped with three jetties.

The Tro de Lann Droën includes a viewpoint overlooking a pond surrounded by heathland, where visitors may be able to observe birds.

Activities

The GPS treasure hunt “Un trésor sous les sabots” follows a 3.5-kilometre nature trail. Separate difficulty levels are available for children under eight and for children aged eight and over.

The fishing course at the Étang du Moulin Neuf has three wooden jetties for fishing for coarse fish as well as predatory fish such as perch and pike.

Culture and history

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Bon-Voyage and the nearby oratory were listed as historic monuments by a decree dated 31 March 1926. At the Manoir de Keraëz, the entrance portal, the eastern gable and the watchtowers were likewise listed as historic monuments in 1926.

The Chapelle de la Clarté is a chapel built in the 17th century that belonged to the former lordship of Lesmoal. The Lesmoal manor house was restored around 1547 by Morice de Meur and his wife Julienne de Quelen. It features a Gothic style, an ornately decorated double gate and a large flax barn.

The manor house and dovecote of Lesmoal are protected as historic monuments and offer guided tours of the exterior areas and the walled flower garden. The Église Saint-Nérin is open only during services and Masses or upon request to the municipal administration. Depending on the season, free tours may also be available as part of the Léguer en Fête events.
