Pléguien combines paths through heathland and cultural landscapes with remarkable religious buildings and a historic château ensemble. Between wetlands, meadows and protected natural areas, the town is just as diverse in its architecture and religious traditions.

Landscape and paths

The Circuit de la Lande is an 11 km walking and hiking trail that takes around three hours. It passes through landscapes of fields and heathland. The Circuit de Bodillou is 12 km long and takes around four hours; its route follows agricultural tracks and crosses a ford.

Shorter is the 4 km Circuit au fil de Kério. It offers insights into the flora and fauna of a natural and protected area. The Circuit de la Salamandre passes through the commune of Pléguien and the Landes de Kério. Classified as a difficult hike, it is 21.1 km long and takes around 5 hours and 20 minutes; the trail begins at the car park by the church in Pléguien.

The Landes de Kério contain wetlands where gorse, broom and heather grow. Poplars and mesic deciduous trees in particular shape the vegetation there. In addition, around 30 butterfly species and numerous amphibians have been recorded in this area.

Culture and history

The Château du Bois de la Salle is an 18th-century ensemble with gardens, a pond, a chapel, an orangery and a dovecote. The ensemble was entered on the list of monuments historiques on 24 December 1993.

The Chapelle Sainte-Anne is a rectangular 17th-century building. Its gabled wall is crowned by a bellcote. Inside are a statue of Saint Ivo and two polychrome wooden statues of Saint Anne and the Virgin and Child. A Pardon is still celebrated there every year at the end of July.

The Église Notre-Dame-de-Soumission contains a 16th-century altarpiece made of Kersanton granite. It depicts the Annunciation, the Adoration of the Magi and the Crucifixion.
