Plélo: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul in Plélo was built between 1872 and 1875 according to plans by the architect Théodore Maignan. It has a 47-metre-high tower spire, which was built in 1887. The church contains two patriotic stained-glass windows honouring the soldiers at the front during the First World War. Louis Balmet created the windows; they are arranged on either side of the nave.

History and Culture

The former church of Plélo had a Romanesque nave and Romanesque aisles, which are believed to date from before the 12th century. It once housed the tomb of the Count of Plélo from 1734; this can still be seen in the present-day church.

The Sainte-Anne Chapel dated from the Gothic period and was dated to the 15th century.

The first work to extract lead ore began on the grounds of the Moulin du Val in 1764. The La Ville Alhen silver-lead mine in Plélo was initially in operation from 1766 to 1790 and again from 1922 to 1931.
