Trédarzec is located in the western part of the Presqu’île de Lézardrieux, a peninsula comprising seven municipalities between the estuaries of the Jaudy and Trieux rivers. The town lies on the banks of the Jaudy, opposite Tréguier.
Nature and Trails
At Trédarzec’s western edge, the GR34 runs through the municipality for just under five kilometres. Near the Chapelle Saint-Votrom, it offers hikers a viewpoint.
The EuroVelo 4 provides opportunities from Trédarzec for excursions along the riverbanks and into the hinterland. Rural paths lead through bocage landscapes and the surrounding countryside.
The Boucle des 21 routoirs à lin starts in Trédarzec, is 6.8 km long, marked in yellow and runs counter-clockwise. It showcases part of Trégor’s flax heritage.
Gardens
Les Jardins de Kerdalo is an 18-hectare park on the Jaudy, combining a botanical garden with a romantic garden setting. It is open from April to September.
Culture
The present-day Saint-Pierre church in Trédarzec dates from the 19th century. It houses 16th-century baptismal fonts and features a bell wall and small turrets reminiscent of the Beaumanoir style.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Traou Meur in Trédarzec dates from 1782. Its site includes a fountain and a calvary.
The Chapelle Saint-Nicolas de Kerhir in Trédarzec was built at the end of the 15th century by Pierre de Trolong and was listed as a Monument historique in 1964. The private chapel is normally closed to visitors.
Trédarzec’s craft heritage includes nine former flax-retting sites. At the Gwazh an Orc’hant site in Trédarzec, there are at least nine former flax-retting tanks. These tanks were used to soak flax, thereby facilitating the subsequent separation of the fibres.
