Caulnes: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Caulnes lies on the Rance and on the Roman road that connected Corseul with Durétie. At a branch of the Rance known as the “Rance des moulins” stands the Moulin des Prés. It is accessible and, since 2024, has been incorporated into walking trails and guided visits.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul in Caulnes is partially listed as a Monument historique. It features structural elements from the late 15th or 16th century; the bell-tower porch bears the date 1769.

The façades and roofs of the Manoir du Verger were listed as protected monuments in 1980. The church calvary cross in Caulnes is a covered cross from the 15th century depicting the Virgin Mary, Christ and other figures. La croix du Verger is a cross with a double crossbar from the 15th century. La croix de la Maladrie is a cross from the 16th century, presumably located near a maladrerie.

In the cemetery of Caulnes, the Carré religieux brings together the mortal remains of former parish priests. The graves of the Couple romantique are shaped like granite coffins and are topped by two hunchbacked crosses.

The Circuit des croix in Caulnes leads to six crosses and offers the opportunity to discover the municipality’s rural landscapes.

Local offerings

The AMAP “Marché de producteurs” in Caulnes holds a farmers’ market on the second Monday of every month. Visitors can sample new products there and exchange information about how they are produced. The current selection includes vegetables, honey, eggs, ice cream, fresh pasta, mushrooms, beer, bread, brioche and biscuits.
