Lanrivain combines historical landmarks with impressive trails and landscapes along the Blavet. Chapels, traditional architecture, an expansive lake and distinctive natural formations give the town several distinct facets.

Culture and History

The founding charter of the Notre-Dame du Guiaudet chapel is dated 1695, while its completion is estimated to have taken place in 1712. The ruins of the Lannégant chapel in Lanrivain were classified as a historic monument by decree of 18 August 1955. The complex of the Saint-Grégoire parish church in Lanrivain is also partially protected as a historic monument.

Hiking and Landscapes

The Boucle de St-Antoine circular hike leads from Saint-Antoine along sunken lanes and through wooded areas to the shore of Lake Kerné Uhel. In the hiking guide “Les Côtes-d’Armor… à pied”, it is listed as PR No. 38 and designated as an FFRP circular trail. The Kerné Uhel dam created a 74-hectare lake along the course of the Blavet. The starting point includes the village of Saint-Antoine, with a 15th-century chapel, a fountain and restored traditional houses that bear witness to the area’s historic architecture.

Nature

At the Toul Goulic gorges, erosion of the granite rock created a jumble of boulders beneath which the Blavet disappears for almost 300 metres. The wooded slopes, with oak and beech trees, are home to lush vegetation as well as, among other species, otters, Daubenton’s bats and the protected endemic Quimper snail. A steep access path leads down from the Toul Goulic car park to the gorges.
