Plougonver: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Plougonver showcases its natural and cultural diversity in the Vallée des Bambous, on a circular hike through the surrounding agricultural landscape and at historic sites such as the Church of Saint-Pierre and the Chapel of Saint-Tugdual.

Culture

Secluded among the landscape, the stone-built Chapel of Saint-Tugdual features a slate roof and bears the restoration date 1873. It is the only surviving one of the five chapels in the municipality of Plougonver. In the past, Saint-Tugdual was invoked at this site against childhood illnesses.

The Church of Saint-Pierre in Plougonver is open to the public and features a display case with liturgical vestments. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1926.

The Centre de Jeux Bretons includes a museum that traces the history of Breton games using selected archival holdings. The centre also has an area where visitors can try out traditional Breton games.

Traditions

The “Parlons Boutiques” museum at Biscuiterie Ménou in Plougonver presents traditional trades. Biscuiterie Ménou offers workshops on making bread or viennoiseries. Visitors to Les Biscuits Ménou et ses Gourmandises receive coffee and biscuits after their visit.

Nature

More than 5,000 trees and shrubs grow in the Vallée des Bambous, including 400 different bamboo species and varieties. The Vallée des Bambous covers almost eight hectares and can be visited independently or as part of a guided tour.

The Ménez Kerespers reaches an altitude of 321 metres and offers a remarkable viewpoint over the region.

Hiking

The route “A la découverte d’une Campagne Verdoyante – Plougonver” is an easy, yellow-marked circular hike covering 9.9 km and taking around two hours. It passes through an agricultural landscape with pastures, cultivated fields, farms and livestock. Many songbirds are found along the agricultural tracks, nesting in the various layers of the bocage hedgerows.
