Corlay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Corlay combines a historic horse-breeding tradition with the history of the riding horse in Brittany. This tradition gave rise to the local horse breed known as the “race de Corlay”.

Equestrian Sports

The Hippodrome du Petit Paris hosts three racing events every year in June and July. The programme includes flat races and jumps races, including steeplechase and cross-country events. The steeplechase and cross-country courses follow the natural terrain, pass through the countryside and can reach almost 6 km in length.

The Equipôle du Petit Paris includes a training track for racehorses, show-jumping facilities, dressage arenas, and outdoor courses for carriage driving, endurance riding and eventing. The annual Fête des courses makes horse racing and the world of racing accessible to families as well.

Culture

The Maison du Cheval is located within the enclosure of the former Château de Corlay. It houses a collection of horse-drawn carriages and presents the history of the horse in Brittany.

The surviving remains of the Château de Corlay include a north-west tower, curtain walls, a pond and an entrance gateway with a double-leaf gate for vehicles and pedestrians.

The present-day Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Corlay dates from the 15th century; its choir is fitted with 17th-century wood panelling.

Local Life

The Marché de Corlay takes place every Friday and brings together local exhibitors and producers from the surrounding area. Products on offer include seafood, seasonal fruit and vegetables, hot galettes-saucisses, traditionally made cider, crêpes and regional cheeses.
