Nature

The Sentiers du Guinefort form a 26-kilometre hiking trail that runs along the Guinefort stream. The Sentiers du Guinefort offer several route options for hikers ranging from beginner to advanced level.

Townscape

The centre of Le Hinglé consists of several groups of adjoining residential buildings. The houses generally face south and are arranged around a shared courtyard.

The Church of Saint-Barthélémy was built in 1847 and has a Latin cross-shaped floor plan.

History and Culture

The La Pyrie granite quarry has four smithies that were built at the end of the 19th century and are still preserved. Until the 1960s, the quarry produced polished granite for funerary monuments. It also supplied the materials needed to build the lighthouse at Penzance in England.

The Maison du Peuple was inaugurated in 1937 at the initiative of the quarry workers’ union. It served as a meeting place, social venue and home for the quarry workers, and today serves as an exhibition hall.

The Pont-Ruffier dam was built in 1971 to create a constant water reserve. Its construction led to the flooding of the then-abandoned village of Les Vaux.

The Crêperie du Hinglé offers crêpes and galettes to take away.
