Le Moustoir: Holiday apartments and houses

Beneath Kervoaguel Hill in Le Moustoir, the Roman aqueduct of Vorgium includes a 900-metre-long tunnel. The aqueduct supplied Vorgium with water and is described as unique in Brittany. A circular route to the aqueduct is signposted from the car park opposite the church; blue waymarkers lead to the sections at Pors-an-Plas, Hélesser and the Kervoaguel tunnel. The circular route consists of three sections in a rural setting.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Juvenal was built at the beginning of the 16th century and completely restored in 1891. The choice of Saint Juvenal as the church’s patron is probably a replacement for Saint Guénaël, who is called Sant Venal in Breton.

The chapels also preserve distinctive historical details: the roof structure of the Chapelle Sainte-Barbe bears the date 1683. The Baroque altarpiece in the Chapelle de la Croix-Neuve is older than the chapel building itself.

At the Calvaire de Kérantré, the cross is made of Kersantite; it was replaced in 2005 after the previous cross had been stolen. The Calvaire de Kerléon was erected by local residents in 1618, probably as part of a mission.

Canal and trails

Along the Nantes-Brest Canal, you can follow the towpath in Le Moustoir while discovering the municipality. The Écluse du Moustoir lock no. 190 was filled with water in 1842. It has a small bridge on the towpath 15 metres downstream.

For longer hikes, the GR® 37 from Le Moustoir to the Forêt de Huelgoat is designated as a 46-kilometre, two-day hiking route.

Getting around locally

The municipality’s pump track can be used with any type of wheeled device. Opposite the town hall, the Kreizi Karr station provides four electric vehicles. The Kreizi Karr service is open to everyone and intended for occasional journeys.
