Plouzélambre: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Plouzélambre is one of the fifteen communes of Trégor that jointly organize the cultural discovery event Circuit des Chapelles. Every year, the program offers the opportunity to discover around twenty chapels or churches over the course of a summer month.

Culture and History

The architectural ensemble of the Eglise Saint-Sylvestre et son enclos paroissial in Plouzélambre comprises a church, a fountain, an oratory, a calvary and an ossuary. All of these elements are classified as historic monuments. The Fontaine Saint-Sylvestre has been classified as a historic monument since 1930; it was probably built in the second half of the 16th century and was commissioned by the lords of Kerbavé.

The Saint-Sylvestre Oratory was classified as a historic monument by decree of 24 November 1930 and served as a stopping point during processions. A triple skull box is kept above the monumental portal of the parish church of Saint-Sylvestre in Plouzélambre.

The Chapelle Saint-Mélar houses a polychrome high altar dating from 1773 and was built in 1623. The Pardon de Saint-Mélar takes place at the end of August. As early as the Middle Ages, pilgrims came to Plouzélambre to seek healing from leprosy and other skin diseases with water from the Fontaine Saint-Sylvestre.

Walking Routes and Discoveries

The circular walking route De Saint Sylvestre aux hauteurs de Saint Mélard is an easy, signposted 5.7 km loop starting in Plouzélambre.

Château de Rosanbo is located in the immediate vicinity of Plouzélambre. Château de Goasmelquin, Château Kastell Tonkedeg, Île Milliau and Château Kastell Koad Freg are located near Plouzélambre. Further afield in the region around Plouzélambre are Plage de Trestraou and the islands of Molène and Île Toënno.
