Culture and History
The Notre-Dame de Confort Chapel was founded in 1523 by the Lords of Perrier, completed in 1537, and consecrated in 1549. The altarpiece of its main altar dates from 1715 and was created by the sculptor Vincent Rivoalan and the painter François Bahic from Lannion. On 16 August 1922, the chapel was classified as a French historical monument.
The former parish church of Sainte-Brigitte in Berhet contains a rich collection of furnishings from the 17th and 18th centuries, several statues, and a baptismal font with a lead cover. Its vault paintings were created by Raphaël Donguy (1812–1877) and restored in 2015. The church is open on request at the town hall.
The present-day building of the Manoir de Léodanet features architectural elements dating from the late 15th century or the first half of the 16th century. The old building complex served both as a manor house and an agricultural estate, and its large scale and stair tower make it a prominent feature of the landscape.
Townscape
The Croix de chemin, Ar Croaz, is a grey granite wayside cross at the An Croaz crossroads in Berhet. The two-sided cross bears Christ on the cross on one side and the Virgin Mary on the other. It probably dates from the second half of the 18th century or the beginning of the 19th century.
The Sainte-Brigitte washhouse is a covered washhouse of the “impluvium” type; water from the roof flows into the basin.
Things to Do
The “Rospez, Berhet, Quemperven – Cycle Tour No. 12” follows a route through the center of Berhet. It runs counterclockwise and is signposted with large green-and-white cycling signs as well as smaller supplementary stickers. The loop is 24.2 km long and has a moderate difficulty level.
