Quintin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Quintin, the historic ensemble of the Château de Quintin tells of times gone by: it includes medieval fortifications and an archive tower. The estate also includes two châteaux set in a shared park.

Culture and History

The 18th-century Château de Quintin is open to visitors and includes furnished apartments. The permanent exhibition “Les Merveilles de nos collections” presents numerous everyday objects and evidence of lifestyles from the 18th century to the present day; it will continue in 2026.

The Notre-Dame-de-Délivrance Basilica is a 19th-century building with a neo-Gothic bell tower. It was rebuilt in 1887 on the site of the former collegiate church and is open daily.

Linen and Urban History

La Fabrique – Atelier du Lin is Quintin’s municipal museum. It presents the processing of flax from seed to cloth, and visitors can also touch the flax fibre. From 1650 to 1830, Quintin was regarded as the most important trading centre for the Manufacture des toiles « Bretagnes ».

The “Balade Quintin – centre historique” comprises 11 stops with information panels and QR codes. The tour follows the history of the town from its origins to the heyday of Breton linen weaving. The Route du Lin connects Loudéac with Quintin and passes through Le Quillio, Saint-Thélo and Uzel.

Events

The Weavers’ Festival (“Fête des Tisserands”) has taken place every year since 1993 on the first weekend of August and includes costumed parades as well as creations by young designers on the theme of linen. At the beginning of autumn, the Festival des Chanteurs de Rue brings Quintin to life each year with an open-air musical event.

Since 2017, the “Murder Party au Château de Quintin” has offered the public an interactive game in which participants discover the château and park in a playful way.

Townscapes

The half-timbered houses on Place 1830 are longstanding examples of Breton architecture. The Bonhomme de Quintin is a sculpture on a town mansion at Place 1830, facing a half-timbered house opposite. It recalls historic rivalries between local lawyers.
