In Lancerf, the Chapelle de Lancerf takes you far back into history: its oldest architectural elements date from the 13th century, and the chapel overlooks the Trieux valley.

Culture and history

The Chapelle de Lancerf houses the graves of the Count of Labenne (1845–1882), a biological son of Napoleon III, and his son Georges, who died in Paimpol in 1884.

Lancerf’s historical heritage also includes two crosses with different documented statuses: the inscribed grave cross in the former cemetery of Lancerf was classified as a historic monument by decree of 1 May 1911. The monolithic cross in Lancerf was entered in the register of historic monuments by decree of 5 February 1927.

Nature and landscape

The Penhoat-Lancerf site is included in the Trégor-Goëlo Natura 2000 perimeter because of its remarkable habitats. Coat Ermit is a viewpoint at the highest point of a rocky slope in the Penhoat-Lancerf area.

The Penhoat-Lancerf forest lies on the banks of the Trieux estuary and is part of a site managed by the Conservatoire du littoral.

Experience nature

The Maison de l'Estuaire offers a varied programme of nature-related events and exhibitions. The visitor site includes around ten kilometres of paths for walks and hikes. Six or seven historic flax-retting pits are also visible on the site.

A 5 km guided hike organised by the Maison de l'Estuaire includes observation stops with detailed explanations.

Paths and water

A canoe trip on the Trieux estuary from Pontrieux to Lézardrieux runs along the Penhoat-Lancerf forest massif; on one side of the estuary, the maritime pines of this forest massif extend down to the water.

The hiking route to the three chapels of Plourivo can be reached by train via the Guingamp–Paimpol railway line to the Halte de Lancerf. By bicycle, it can be reached via the Vélomaritime.
