Saint-André-Des-Eaux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Saint-André-des-Eaux is home to historical landmarks as well as the landscape around Bétineuc. Former buildings, waterways and green hilly landscapes come together to create a varied picture of the town and its surroundings.

Culture and history

The ruins of the former church of Saint-André-des-Eaux were classified as a historic monument by decree of 13 September 1990. Today, Château du Besso retains the grand staircase tower of the manor house and sections of wall. The extensively remodelled former Besso mill also preserves a remarkable detail: a 15th-century heraldic stone bearing the Beaumanoir coat of arms presented by an angel. The former parish church of Saint-André-des-Eaux also contained a large Romanesque depiction of the Crucifixion, attributed to the late 12th century.

In the vicinity of Saint-André-des-Eaux are Penthievre Tower, St. Louis Gate, Coetquen Tower and Counter Gate – four landmarks considered historic sites.

Landscape and water

The circular route “Par l'étang de Bétineuc” passes through hilly, green landscapes shaped by agriculture. The route also runs through a waterscape shaped by the Rance, the Linon, the Canal d'Ille-et-Rance and the Étang de Bétineuc. The Étang de Bétineuc covers 20 hectares.

Activities

The Bétineuc water sports centre offers introductions to sailing, canoeing and kayaking. The Bétineuc leisure complex features a 1.9-kilometre sports course with six or fourteen stations. The Véloroute voie verte No. 3 (Saint-Malo-Rhuys) was created along the former railway line, which served Saint-André-des-Eaux, among other places.
