Pléboulle: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In the Montbran area of Pléboulle stands the Tour de Montbran, a fortified structure. Around 1150, it was built as a tower that was octagonal on the outside and circular on the inside; today, it survives only as a partially ruined keep. By decree of 28 March 1994, the Tour de Montbran was placed under protection as a historic monument.

Culture and history

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Temple is a single-nave building made of granite and slate rubble masonry. Its choir is separated from the rest of the building by a chancel arch. The chapel is located in the area of the same name, less than two kilometres south of Pléboulle town centre.

The Saint-Paul church in Pléboulle also has Romanesque, possibly partly pre-Romanesque, origins. The Foire de Montbran, also known as the Foire de la Sainte-Croix, takes place as a fair on the first weekend of September.

Hiking and cycling

The GR-34 stage from Fréhel to Saint-Cast-le-Guildo begins at Port à la Duc in Pléboulle. The stage is 15 kilometres long and takes around three hours and 30 minutes on foot. Historically, Port à la Duc was once located on the route taken by pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela.

The signposted cycle route no. 21, “À vélo de Matignon à Pléboulle”, partly follows the Vélomaritime and offers views of the Baie de la Fresnaye.

Landscape

The polders, tidal flats and wetlands of Pléboulle are home to a wide variety of animal and plant species.
