Pléneuf-Val-André: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Plage du Val-André stretches for 2.5 kilometres of fine white sand. Between this coastline, the port of Dahouët and the seaside resort of Val-André lie historical traces, striking buildings and various opportunities for active days by the sea.

Culture and history

The port of Dahouët dates back to the 12th century. It was one of the first ports in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc to equip fishing vessels for cod fishing in Newfoundland from the 17th to the 18th century and in Iceland from the 18th century until 1914. Also in Dahouët stands the Maison d'armateur et de négociant, built in 1854 for Monsieur Rubin de Ray.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde de Dahouët was built between May 1925 and June 1926 to provide religious services at the port of Dahouët. It stands on a hill overlooking both the port of Dahouët and the seaside resort of Val-André. The Casino du Val-André, also known as La Rotonde, was built in the 1930s as part of the modernisation of the centre of the seaside resort. Along the Val-André promenade, the villas form a cohesive ensemble representative of pléneuvian seaside resort architecture.

The older cultural heritage also includes the Cairn à trois dolmens de la Ville-Pichard. The funerary monument was classified as a Monument historique on 15 April 1965; today, it is overgrown with vegetation and survives only in a fragmentary state.

Coast and nature

ÃŽlot du Verdelet is designated as a Special Protection Area under the 1979 Birds Directive. At Plage de Nantois, visitors can go sand yachting or paragliding. Access to this beach begins with an approximately 500-metre-long wooded path along the golf course.

Paths and activities

The Promenade de la Lingouare was laid out as a path in 1898, leading from the Château-Tanguy rocky cliff towards Pointe de la Lingouare. It is a 300-metre-long, narrow and winding path along the Ville-Pichard cliff, with two small bridges over the rocks.

On board La Pauline, visitors can take part in manoeuvres aboard a traditional lougre flambart. The Centre Nautique de Pléneuf-Val-André operates three sites spread throughout the municipality. Golf Bluegreen Pléneuf-Val-André has 18 spectacular holes.
