Begard: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

Bégard’s cultural heritage includes numerous historical examples of built heritage: chapels, churches, manor houses and dovecotes, as well as smaller heritage features such as calvaries, washhouses and fountains. Some of these elements are classified or listed as historic monuments.

Nature and trails

The Circuit de la Vallée du Donant is a 12-kilometre, moderately difficult circular route that takes around three hours and is marked in yellow. Along the way is the Menhir de Kerguezennec, a 6.50-metre-high granite menhir that has been classified as a historic monument since 1887. The circuit also includes the Chapelle Sainte-Geneviève de Guénézan; its church, churchyard and calvary are listed as historic monuments.

The Circuit de la Vallée du Donant starts at Camping du Donant or at the church of Trézélan in Bégard. The Église Saint-Rivoal de Trézélan is a stopping point on the circuit; the associated parish regained its religious autonomy in 1849.

Architecture

The Colombier de Kernaudour stands on a promontory above the Jaudy Valley and is flanked by two bonsai oak trees. The granite dovecote served as the model for Bégard’s town logo.

The Abbaye du Bon Sauveur has a chapel made of granite and oak wood, as well as a 45-metre-long square cloister. Its architecture is influenced by the Romantic medieval style of the Viollet-le-Duc school. Guided tours of the Abbaye du Bon Sauveur were offered on Fridays from 14:00 to 15:00 in July and August, by reservation.

Leisure

Armoripark is a leisure park in Bégard set on six hectares of landscaped grounds, with activities for all age groups. These include trampolines, water slides, a zip line and a heated swimming pool, as well as mini-golf, pedal boating and encounters with animals.
