Grâces: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Grâces combines the Circuit de Traou An Dour hiking trail with religious and aristocratic buildings whose traces date from the 14th century to the present day. Between the rural surroundings, camellia gardens and listed works of art, the town presents a varied picture.
Culture and architectural history
The Church of Notre-Dame-de-Grâces was built in 1506 and is an example of Flamboyant Gothic architecture. In 1907, it was classified as a historic monument. It may also be the oldest known example in Brittany of frieze decoration on a roof-beam cornice. The Church of Notre-Dame also contains a carved and polychrome-painted wooden statue of Saint Monica.
Guided tours of the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Grâces take place every year during the European Heritage Days on the third weekend of September.
Trails and camellias
Grâces offers the Circuit de Traou An Dour hiking trail. The circular route runs along the Chemin des Camélias and through the rural surroundings. The Chemin des Camélias is located in the town centre and was created to introduce the public to the many facets of the camellia. It features 360 camellias of various varieties in different landscaped settings. Information panels label each bed with the names of the camellias.
Chapels and religious art
The Chapel of Saint-Jean-de-Kergrist is a sanctuary that dates partly from the late Middle Ages and features structural elements from the 14th, 15th and 19th centuries. It has old stained-glass windows that were classified under heritage protection legislation on 20 July 1942. The chapel also contains a 15th-century fresco depicting the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. It also houses a 15th-century head of Saint John the Baptist, which is listed as a protected cultural object.
The Oratoire Saint Yves is dedicated to Saint Yves. In Grâces, the processional banner “Donation du Rosaire, saint évêque, Notre-Dame et Saint-Barthélemy” dates mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries. It has been classified as a cultural object worthy of protection since 1978.
Manor houses and historic estates
The Château de Keranno dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and has been listed as a historic monument since 1965. The Château de Keravel is a residence built in the 16th century whose main façade was remodelled around 1640. A small pond lies by the Château de Keravel and is fed by a very old landscaped spring.
