Zdechov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The entire cadastral area of Zděchov lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy). The surrounding area includes valuable natural landscapes such as juniper pastures, flower-rich meadows with orchid populations, and preserved woodland.

Nature and landscape

On the eastern slope of Žďár (689 m) in the cadastral area of Zděchov lies a protected natural site with a preserved part of the typical Valašsko landscape, a so-called juniper pasture, and several orchid species.

Culture and history

At the Firefighting Technology Museum in Zděchov, visitors can view firefighting uniforms, old photographs, and fire pumps. One notable exhibit is a still-functioning fire engine pump dating from 1904.

A special local tradition is the Krosienkové bonnet, which forms part of the Valašsko folk costume. They were traditionally made in Zděchov and are known as “zděcháky”.

The Roman Catholic Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Zděchov is a protected cultural monument and was built in 1778 under Maria Theresa. Hajdovy Paseky was declared a village heritage conservation zone in 2004.

Activities and leisure

Nordic walking poles can be borrowed at the Zděchov municipal office for use on the educational trail and Nordic walking route. The swimming pool in Zděchov offers a pool, a multi-purpose sports court, a children’s paddling pool, a slide, and refreshments.

The Zděchov sports complex includes a 360 m-long ski lift of medium difficulty with an elevation difference of 80 m, maintained with a piste groomer. There are numerous cross-country ski trails around Zděchov, which are mechanically groomed when snow conditions are favourable.

A 16 km running route leads from the car park at the Zděchov swimming pool via the Pod Filkou saddle, the Radošov sedlo saddle, Skaličí, and Pulčín with the Pulčín icefalls and a viewpoint overlooking the Pulčín Rocks, before returning to Zděchov. The Zděchovská 30 event takes place in Zděchov every year.
