Jablůnka: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Jablůnka presents its history at specific locations. On the road between Jablůnka and Bystřička, the Jablůnka Cross from 1771 stands on the U Kříže hilltop. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. The cross at U Kříže has a Baroque sandstone pedestal. Its front bears the relief coat of arms of the Illesházy family, while the year 1771 is shown on the back.

Culture and history

The Evangelical church in Jablůnka is also part of the village’s history. Its foundation stone was laid in 1877; the church burned down in 1903 and was subsequently rebuilt. Next to the church building stands a monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars. This monument was reconstructed in 1995 and fitted with a memorial capsule.

The first written mention of Jablůnka dates from 24 June 1505. It was made in connection with the registration of the purchase of an estate in the Moravian Land Tables. A much more recent local tradition is the competition “O nejlepší jablůnecků jabkovicu a o nejlepší jabkovů buchtu”, which reached its 21st edition in 2026. Thus, Jablůnka is home both to a historical entry from the early 16th century and to an event that continues into the present day.

Landscape

Jablůnka lies partly on the river deposits of the Vsetínská Bečva and partly on slopes leading towards the western foothills of the Vsetínské vrchy. These two landscape forms are directly relevant to the geographical setting of the village: on the one hand are the river deposits, and on the other the rising slopes towards the western foothills of the Vsetínské vrchy.

Transport

Jablůnka lies on road I/57 and on the railway line from Valašské Meziříčí to Vsetín. The railway station building also has its own history of development: it was originally built in 1885 on a single-track railway line and was converted to two tracks in 1937 when the line was expanded. Jablůnka station is integrated into an integrated transport system.

There is no ticket office at Jablůnka station; tickets are sold on the train. The station is also located on line 280 on the (Olomouc–) Přerov–Hranice na Moravě–Střelná (–Púchov) route. Thus, both the historical development of the building and the present-day classification of the route are central to the railway.

Things to do

The Kotáry, co pamatujú educational trail runs through the landscape around Jablůnka. It connects the history of the municipality, the landscape and the memories of the local population. The trail has ten stations with information about the history of Jablůnka, everyday life and the memories of its residents. Its content therefore connects local history and the landscape not only through individual monuments, but also through the stories conveyed at the stations.

There are two moderately difficult variants of the Kotáry, co pamatujú educational trail: a green circular route of approximately 6 km and a yellow circular route of approximately 10 km. The two routes therefore differ both in their marking colour and in their respective approximate length.
