Wesetin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Vsetín Castle is a Renaissance castle originally built in the 17th century, with later alterations in the Neoclassical style. The permanent exhibition “The Living Memory of the Region” uses modern technologies to convey the history, traditions and other special features of Wallachia.
Culture and History
The 60-metre-high viewing point in the tower of Vsetín Castle offers comprehensive views over Vsetín. Vsetín Observatory organizes regular observations of the day and night sky, as well as themed lectures and discussion sessions.
The Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Vsetín was created by converting an unfinished castle. Among other features, the corner rondels with loopholes and the brackets of the former castle balcony have been preserved. The church was founded in 1683 and belongs to the post-White Mountain Baroque of the Vsetínsko region.
The Evangelical Church of the Lower Church District in Vsetín was built in 1782–1783 following the issue of the Patent of Toleration. The façade of the Občanská záložna building in Vsetín features sgraffiti designed by Mikoláš Aleš.
Trails and Nature
The 7-kilometre, moderately difficult Naučná stezka okolím Vsetína educational trail has 13 stations and is suitable for walkers and mountain bikers. It begins on the banks of the Bečva in Vsetín and passes through the Vršky-Díly natural monument. From the stop at the thirteenth and final station of the educational trail, bus routes 1 and 5 run back to the centre.
The Vršky-Díly natural monument encompasses a unique, terraced slope where numerous Central European orchids bloom, especially in May and June. The Baťova naučná stezka educational trail is approximately 16 kilometres long and presents the natural and cultural attractions of this part of Vsacko at twelve stations.
The 3-kilometre-long, level Cyklostezka Jasenice cycle path begins at the car park of Vsetín’s Kaufland and is also suitable for small children. For pedestrians, the approximately 2-kilometre-long, easy Městský okruh památkami Vsetína circular route leads to the city’s most historically, architecturally or culturally interesting buildings.
Parks
The Naučná stezka Přírodou vsetínských parků educational trail has 11 stations. Information boards provide information about the natural and aesthetic values of the parks.
The castle park below Vsetín Castle in Horní město covers an area of 1 hectare. Together with a pond, a pavilion and play elements, the park area covers approximately 3 hectares.
