Mikulůvka: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Mikulůvka lies in a picturesque valley at the eastern foot of the Hostýnské vrchy hills. The Mikulůvka stream flows through the village and joins the Vsetínská Bečva river. A large part of the area is forested. The village landscape thus brings together the valley, the watercourse and extensive woodland areas in close proximity.

Culture

In the eastern part of Mikulůvka lies the water mill complex. It consists of a log-built residential section, a newer brick mill building and two stone cellars with wooden superstructures. Mikulův Mill is protected as a cultural monument and is open to the public as an exhibition on the historical development of milling. At the same time, Mikulův Mill serves as a centre for environmental activities. The complex therefore combines architectural elements from the history of milling with a contemporary public and environmentally oriented use.

Another distinctive feature is the wooden bell tower. It dates from 1906 and is considered an important local monument. The bell tower has been reconstructed; since 2013, a new bell has rung inside it. Local cultural activities also have a long history: the Valašský krúžek in Mikulůvka was founded in 1949 and staged theatre performances as well as ethnographic programmes featuring dance and singing.

Cycling

A marked cycle route runs through Mikulůvka. It follows the valley along the Mikulůvka stream into the surrounding forests. The Gurmánská cycle route has a longer regional course: it leads from Bystřička via Mikulůvka, Prženské paseky and Pržno, and then once again via Mikulůvka. The route has an elevation difference of 620 metres.

The Gurmánská route also includes a culinary prelude: right at the beginning, visitors can sample Valašsko baked goods such as Frgály at a local bakery. This places landscapes, villages along the route and a distinct regional flavour side by side on the same route, without the individual stops losing their own significance.

Sport and Water

Mikulůvka outdoor swimming pool has a small pool and a large pool. It also offers beach volleyball and has a snack bar. Locals and tourists can visit the Mikulůvka sports complex during the season. There, they can try tennis, basketball and other sports.

The sports complex includes a sports hall and a multi-purpose playing field with tennis, nohejbal and volleyball courts. The facilities mentioned thus accommodate different forms of physical activity: the outdoor swimming pool combines pools, beach volleyball and refreshments, while the sports complex additionally includes a hall and a versatile playing field.

Events

Kaprobraní takes place in Mikulůvka every year with an extensive accompanying programme. Together with the performances by the Valašský krúžek, the exhibition at Mikulův Mill and the visible architectural monuments, this recurring event is also part of the village’s cultural identity.
