Růžďka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Růžďka presents several clearly distinct aspects: protected landscapes, routes to prominent destinations, and sacred art and knife-making as themes of the locality’s history.
Culture and Local History
The present-day Church of Saint Bartholomew in Růžďka was built in 1807. Its wooden main altar was made in 1891 by the School of Woodworking in Valašské Meziříčí. The painting of Saint Bartholomew in the church was created in 1878 by the painter Schindler from Vsetín.
Růžďka is also home to a monument erected in 1927 to the Protestants murdered in 1777. The production of knives, particularly Křivák knives, was Růžďka’s most widespread form of home-based work.
Nature and Landscape
The Louky pod Štípou Nature Monument protects remnants of flower-rich meadows with orchids and specially protected plant species. In particular, it is home to burnt-tip orchids, spotted orchids, sword-leaved helleborines, and marsh helleborines.
The Růžděcký Vesník Nature Monument lies on the eastern edge of the settlement of the same name. It is a former juniper pasture on a slope situated between forests and protects a juniper pasture. Růžděcký Vesník has flower-rich meadows with a large population of frog orchids.
The Lúčky–Roveňky Nature Monument lies in the cadastral area of Růžďka, about 1 km below the municipality. It protects wet meadows and hillside springs with rare orchids and other rare wetland plants. Rare animals such as white-legged damselflies, blue hawker dragonflies, red dwarf dragonflies, ruddy darters, common toads, yellow-bellied toads, fire salamanders, slow worms, sand lizards, and legless lizards may occur there.
Destinations and Routes
The Žaba rock formation in the cadastral area of Růžďka is considered a tourist destination and offers extensive views of the surrounding area. Access leads from the Růžďka municipal office or from the terminus along a local road to the Dušná guesthouse, and then for approximately 1 km along a forest track.
The Klenov educational trail is 7 km long. Another prominent destination is the Poledník Obelisk: from the Růžďka municipal office, it is approximately 3 km away on foot via unmarked local paths. The red hiking route and cycle routes 6018 and 6119 run at its location. The approximately 3-metre-high obelisk has an opening through which a ray of sunlight passes at a specific time; this time is marked on the obelisk as a calendar.
