Lačnov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Around 1 kilometre southeast of Lačnov lies the Sucháčkovy paseky Nature Monument on the right-hand valley slope of the Lačnovský potok. It includes a flower-rich meadow with numerous specimens of the specially protected white-flowered crocus. The Lačnov Nature Monument is also part of the landscape around the village: it was first designated on 21 September 1948 and is located in the Vizovická vrchovina hills, on the western edge of Lačnov’s built-up area, behind the kindergarten.

Nature and landscape

The Lačnovské skály are among the area’s prominent landscape features. They are a group of sandstone rock formations in the summit area of Vrátnice mountain and on its southern slopes towards Lačnov.

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Lačnov to the Lačnovské skály. The rocks are accessible exclusively on foot and are not suitable for pushchairs. The 16-kilometre Naučná stezka Vařákovy paseky educational trail, with 15 information panels, also passes through Lačnov. The route begins at Horní Lideč railway station and then leads via the Lačnovské rybníky ponds to Lačnov.

Paths and special places

Another path connects the Vařákovy paseky Museum with the original settlement site. It is 3.5 kilometres long, and there is also a forest playground along the way. The Lačnovské rybníky ponds are also home to a fishing centre visited by anglers from the wider surrounding area.

Culture and history

The Vařákovy paseky Museum in Lačnov commemorates the tragic destruction of the Vařákovy paseky settlement by fire at the end of the Second World War with its permanent exhibition. The permanent exhibition combines the remembrance of the historical event with a presentation of traditional Wallachian building forms. At the same time, the museum displays reconstructions of traditional Wallachian buildings, including a dwelling hut, a barn and farm buildings. Visitors can also see a dwelling hut, a farm building, a stable, a drying hut and a cellar in the museum.

Traces of the former settlement have also been preserved outside the museum. In Lačnov, several foundation stones are still in their original places. The site can be reached after approximately 600 metres from the recycling centre in the lower part of the grounds of the former agricultural enterprise.

The timber-framed farmstead at No. 13 in Lačnov is a historic monument in its own right. It is arranged around a square courtyard and comprises a dwelling house, a stable with a hayloft, a barn and a chamber. One of the beams in the complex is dated 1811.
