Lidečko: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes
At the northern edge of Lidečko, the Čertovy skály rise as a sandstone wall approximately 150 m long and up to 25 m high. The natural monument is located here, while the part of the cadastral area east of the railway lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. Between rock formations, protected landscapes, and historic sites, Lidečko reveals different aspects within a compact thematic area.
Nature
The Kopce natural monument includes a large rockslide with crevice caves, which the protected area preserves. The crevice caves are not open to the public because they are important wintering grounds for bats. The Čertovy skály are also more than just a geological feature in the local landscape: climbers use them as practice rocks with around 100 established routes.
Directly below the Čertovy skály are a parking lot, a children's playground, and a place to get refreshments. The ČD Lidečko-ves stop provides access to the Čertovy skály. This means that the natural monument combines striking rock formations, clear orientation on site, and various facilities directly below the rocks.
Trails and Activities
There are also described connections through the landscape outside the rock area. The northern section of the Bevlava cycling route runs from Ústí u Vsetína via Lidečko to Valašské Příkazy. In addition, a path approximately 1 km long leads from the center of Lidečko to the Chapel of Saint Agnes of Bohemia. Thus, an intermunicipal cycling route and a path from the town center to a religious destination exist side by side.
Culture and History
The Baroque Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria is the oldest historic building in the municipality of Lidečko. Lidečko is also home to early Baroque bells dedicated to Saint Catherine, dating from 1664, and to the Holy Savior, dating from 1665. As early as 1949, a typical Wallachian chapel was built. These monuments therefore range from the municipality's oldest historic building, through preserved bells from the 17th century, to a chapel from the mid-20th century.
The Vařákovy paseky educational trail adds another historical layer. The Vařákovy paseky educational trail presents the history of the burned-down Wallachian settlement of Vařákovy paseky.
Events
The Dožínky harvest festival in Lidečko usually takes place at the end of August. The festival includes a procession through the village in Wallachian costumes, followed by a program beneath the Čertovy skály. In autumn, the Lidečkovský jarmark fair is held at the beginning of November. It includes a demonstration of a traditional home slaughter and a presentation of products made by local craftspeople and entrepreneurs.
In addition, Lidečko was granted the traditional right to hold a procession through the municipality for the period from December 4 to 6, 2024. The event calendar therefore documents both a harvest festival usually held at the end of August and an autumn fair held at the beginning of November, as well as a traditional procession right granted for a precisely specified period.
