Valašské Příkazy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Valašské Příkazy lies in a valley between the Vizovice Highlands and the White Carpathians. The Dúbravka stream, which flows through the village, forms the imaginary dividing line between the two mountain ranges. A road connection and a railway line between Vsetín and Valašské Klobouky also run through Valašské Příkazy.

Nature and trails

A marked hiking trail leads from Valašské Příkazy into the White Carpathians. The eastern route runs via Študlov to the 791-metre-high Požár summit, where hiking trails intersect. Both hikes and bicycle tours are possible from Valašské Příkazy.

The section of the Bevlava Cycle Route from Ústí u Vsetína ends in Valašské Příkazy. The Bevlava section to Valašské Příkazy is marked, runs on asphalt and has a gentle profile.

In the wider surroundings of Valašské Příkazy, on the southern slope of Ploština, lies the nature reserve of the same name, with a natural fir-beech forest and protected plants in the undergrowth. The Lačnovské ponds lie north of the village and are suitable for fishing.

The Pozorovatelna Durch is located on the ridge of Královec below the Kyjanice summit. It offers passers-by a place to sit and rest.

Culture and history

Valašské Příkazy maintains the Easter-related tradition of “ščukotání”. School-age boys walk through the village with “ščukotávky” and “tragači”, replacing the daily ringing during the “flight of the bells to Rome”.

The local volunteer fire brigade association revived the tradition of firefighters’ balls; this event is a popular cultural occasion in the surrounding area. The first written mention of Příkazy dates back to 1503. A chapel built in 1968 stands in the village centre.

Village life and local features

The oldest building in Valašské Příkazy is an inn on the main road dating from 1829. Valašské Příkazy also offers visitors a local inn and tourist accommodation.

Next to the FC Valašské Příkazy football pitch is a tennis court built for local residents.

From 1750, the distilleries in Příkazy held the manorial privilege to distil Slivovice and Borovička. One of the distilleries is still known for producing high-quality Slivovice.
