Vigantice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Vigantice begins with an unusual detail: the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Vigantice was built in the neo-Gothic style between 1911 and 1913, and its tower provides a summer roost for a colony of the critically endangered lesser horseshoe bat. The village lies in a valley formed by the Hážovka stream.
Nature
Měřístek is a tributary of the Hážovka that is interesting from a natural-history perspective. The rare gladiolus grows in some of the wet meadows in Vigantice. Two orchid species also grow in some of the wet meadows in Vigantice. In summer, the protected corncrake can be heard in several meadows.
History
Limestone was formerly quarried near Vápenky. Fossils of Mesozoic animals were also found there.
Location
Vigantice lies on the road from Rožnov via Hutisko-Solanec onward to Velké Karlovice.
