Leskovec: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Leskovec lies in the valley of the Senice stream and combines a clearly defined valley location with the wooded surroundings of the Moravian-Slovak landscape. East of Leskovec begins the Javorníky ridge, which lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. Nature also plays a visible role within the municipality itself: approximately one third of Leskovec’s cadastral area is covered by forests. Thus, valley, ridge and woodland meet within a compact geographical area without the individual landscape connections merging into one another.

Landscape and trails

A special connection between these landscape areas is formed by the Hornolidečská Tourist Magistrála. It descends from the Nezdoby hill to Leskovec. In Leskovec, the magistrála passes the monument to the burned-down Juřičkův mlýn. Another section of this route leads through the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. Its course therefore reflects both the local connection to Leskovec and the protected landscape on the Javorníky ridge; the sections mentioned remain geographically distinct.

Connections through the municipality

A road and a double-track railway line connecting Moravia with Slovakia run through Leskovec. Leskovec’s road connections include roads I/57 and I/49. In addition, the passenger railway line runs via Vsetín, Leskovec, Valašská Polanka, Lužná, Lidečko and Horní Lideč. The municipality is thus part of a precisely named sequence of railway stations and road connections that makes its location between the regional areas visible. For orientation, the different modes of transport and the complete sequence of the route remain particularly characteristic.

History at Juřičkův mlýn

Juřičkův mlýn is present in the local landscape not only through the monument on the Hornolidečská Tourist Magistrála. It served as a partisan centre and as a connection between the Javorníky, Vizovicko and Hošťálkovsko areas. The tragedy of Leskovec is also commemorated by an annual firefighting competition: in Leskovec, the “O pohár Juříčkova mlýna” competition is held in memory of the tragedy in which Juříčkův mlýn was burned down. The name, memorial site and event are therefore directly connected in an explicitly stated context.

To contact Juřičkův mlýn, please call at least one day in advance in the afternoon and at weekends on 603 793 726. This time requirement is just as much part of the public information relating to the area as the reminder of the mill site’s former function.

Sport and community

The FC Leskovec football ground is located on the southern edge of Leskovec. It has facilities for players and spectators. The site also includes an area for cultural events with a dance floor. Sport and culture are therefore connected here by the explicitly mentioned facilities on the same site, without any further event or equipment details needing to be inferred.

Another sports venue is located on the grounds of the primary school in Leskovec: a multi-purpose sports court with a synthetic surface can be used there by arrangement with the school. Its use is therefore subject to this arrangement. Together with the football ground and its cultural area, this creates a local setting in which several specific community venues stand alongside one another.
