The Dřevěné městečko in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm was opened to the public in 1925 and features a historic square with original wooden buildings. These were mainly relocated here from the Rožnov market square and the surrounding area; Dřevěné městečko can be explored independently or with a guided tour in approximately 50 minutes.
Culture and crafts
Mlýnská dolina is a working open-air ensemble of buildings and facilities powered by mountain water and human labor. During a visit, visitors can see a functioning water mill, sawmill and fulling mill; in the hammer mill, they can observe how a blacksmith worked.
Valašská dědina conveys everyday life in a Wallachian village from the late 18th century to the 1950s. Most of the buildings are originals that were relocated here from their original sites. There is an entertaining search activity and themed materials on household production and traditional handicrafts. In the Valašská dědina area, visitors can sample traditional Wallachian dishes, including kyselica, halušky, frgály and bramboráky.
UNIPAR offers an excursion into candle production in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The Slabikář řemesel program allows children and other interested visitors to try practical activities from traditional crafts and take the finished products home with them.
Activities and recreation
The Valašský golfový klub in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm has a public 9-hole course that is also accessible to golfers without a Green Card. The course includes a spacious driving range with three covered tees, as well as a putting green and a chipping green.
Rožnovský pivovar offers larger groups a guided tour with commentary through the original cellars and brewhouse. The tour includes explanations of beer production and tastings from the lager cellars, depending on the current season. Rožnov Beer Spa offers hot baths with dark beer, peat and sulphur baths in Victorian copper tubs or wooden barrels, as well as herbal aromatherapy and massages.
Nature and trails
The Hradisko educational trail is located in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and runs through an area of significant nature conservation value within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. It is 3 km long, takes approximately 2 hours and has 9 stations. The educational trail leads to the summit of Hradisko, where the ruins of a castle are located. The Hradisko educational trail circuit is marked with the educational trail symbol, a white square with a green stripe, and has an elevation gain of 160 m.
The Bečva cycling trail leads from Valašské Meziříčí onward to Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. A large part of the cycling trail runs along newly built sections where motorized traffic is prohibited.
The Jurkovičova rozhledna observation tower was built on Karlův kopec in 2012 based on drawings more than 100 years old and consists of stone as well as traditionally worked and carved wood. It is 31.09 m high; the observation platform is located at a height of 18.8 m. From the parking area at the Valašské muzeum v přírodě, it can be reached on foot in approximately 30 minutes via a wooden footbridge and the green-marked hiking trail.
