Francova Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Francova Lhota combines striking natural formations, paths through the Javorníky landscape, and vibrant Wallachian traditions. The centerpiece of the nature experiences is the Pulčín-Hradisko NPR, a national nature reserve protecting significant rock formations and forests with a naturally composed species structure. The reserve includes the Pulčínské skály, which consist of five groups of rocks. The Trtol rock formation offers a view of the valley.
Nature and Views
The colorful icefalls are also located in the Pulčín-Hradisko NPR. They can be reached via a seasonally marked trail from the information center in Pulčín. At the same time, a clear rule applies when visiting the nature reserve: access outside marked hiking trails is prohibited by law. The route of the trails is therefore just as much a part of the landscape as the rocks and forests themselves.
Another distinctive site is Čubův kopec. There is an observation tower there that is freely accessible. The wooden tower is 16 m high and has four levels. The area around Pulčín is also home to Kobzova lípa, a commemorative tree standing 26 m tall with a trunk circumference of 760 cm. The rock groups, viewing point, and commemorative tree form different, clearly named points of reference within the described landscape.
Paths through the Javorníky
An educational trail leads through Francova Lhota and along the ridge of the Javorníky. Along this trail, there are views as well as information about the landscape and Wallachian history. The connection between the trail route, landscape views, and regional history remains closely tied to the places through which the trail passes.
There is also an intermunicipal cycling connection: a cycling route links the municipalities of the Hornolidečsko microregion in two loops and is more than 50 km long. Francova Lhota is also an excellent starting point for stages along the Javorníky ridge and in the direction of the White Carpathians. The routes mentioned thus range from the educational trail through the village and over the mountain ridge to the two loops of the microregion.
Orientation in Pulčín
The building of the former school in the center of the settlement of Pulčín provides information about local sights, tips for trips, souvenirs, showers, and other services for tourists. The designation “former school” refers to the building’s previous use. The seasonally marked trail to the colorful icefalls can also be accessed from this information center.
Traditions Throughout the Year
Francova Lhota maintains traditional events at different times of the year. Traditional Fašank processions take place every year on the weekend before Ash Wednesday. The two-day Fašank procession through the municipality ends at the local cultural center with the burial of the bass.
In December, processions of a Saint Nicholas group take place in Francova Lhota, a tradition particularly typical of southern Wallachia. Along with Fašank, this means that a regional December tradition is also part of the town’s described cultural character.
