Kladeruby: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kladeruby brings together sacred buildings, older local history and clearly designated landscape areas within a compact thematic setting. This is particularly evident at the Chapel of Our Lady: it was built in 1843 as a small chapel with Baroque forms. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from the mid-18th century stands on its side wall. The chapel also has a bell from 1717. It bears a depiction of Saint George fighting a dragon, as well as an inscription. The building, side wall and bell thus preserve different historical references that can be read in the individual components of the chapel.

Culture and History

A significantly more recent sacred building complements this local landscape. The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built in 299 days between 1998 and 1999 and consecrated in May 1999. As the subsidiary Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, it has been accessible since 1999. Alongside the small chapel with its Baroque architectural language, there is therefore a church whose construction dates directly to the end of the 20th century. The two buildings belong to different periods and make this span of time visible in Kladeruby.

Another place of remembrance is located by a pond in the Podhájčí area of the village. A wooden statue of Saint Hubert stands there. The name of the village also leads back to an older linguistic and settlement history: Kladeruby derives from an Old Czech word for a settlement of lumberjacks or woodcutters. Kladeruby is first mentioned in an undated document whose origin is dated to the year 1141. Thus, the local history brings together the early documentary mention, the interpretation of the name, and the later sacred and commemorative monuments.

Landscape and Cycle Routes

The cadastral area of Kladeruby contains 125.7 hectares of woodland and 14.4 hectares of water areas. The water areas also include the pond by the wooden statue of Saint Hubert in Podhájčí. Woodland and water are therefore identified as two explicitly recorded types of area.

The marked cycle routes 6215 and 6214 also run through the cadastral area. Their numbers clearly identify the two designated routes. The cycle routes thus stand alongside the woodland and water areas recorded in the cadastre as further clearly named local features.

Facilities in Kladeruby include Fit Zone Kladeruby. It comprises a fitness area with training equipment and is adjacent to a children's playground, a multi-purpose court and a workout area. This means that the fitness area itself and three adjacent areas are specifically identified here.
