Lhota U Vsetína: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lhota u Vsetína lies in the valley of the Rokytenka stream. The stream forms the boundary between the Hostýnské vrchy and the Vizovická vrchovina and gives the place a clearly recognisable landscape setting between two mountain regions. Around this transition, forests, paths, viewpoints and regional history come together to create a diverse local landscape.

Landscape and Nature

The cadastral area of Lhota u Vsetína covers 1,127 hectares, with just under 62% covered by forest. Only its northern part belongs to the European Site of Community Importance EVL CZ0720033 Semetín. Thus, the immediate surroundings combine a large forested area with a specifically demarcated European protected area, without the entire cadastral area being included in this site.

The marked hiking trails in and around Lhota u Vsetína lead into nearby mountain areas and are intended for hikers and cycling tourists. The Ovocná ekostezka offers a special combination of landscape and interpretation. In the Lhotské paseky area, it connects to the “Tesák” educational trail and runs along the ridge through scenic Wallachian hills. From there, views extend over the valleys and towards green, wooded slopes. Along the route, there are three rest areas with a mini playground.

The information boards along the Ovocná ekostezka focus on the history of fruit growing, organic fruit growing and organic food. In this way, the trail combines its location on the hill ridge with themes directly connected to the cultural landscape and its use.

Paths and Routes

Several cycle routes also integrate Lhota u Vsetína into the regional network of paths. Cycle Route 46 leads over less demanding terrain to Liptál and onwards to Vsetín. Cycle Route 6121 runs via Horní Potoky and Nivy into the Janišov valley. Cycle Route 6117 leads to Vizovice. Two further routes begin and end directly in Lhota u Vsetína: “Kolem pramene Rokytenky” and “Vyhlídka z Kapky”.

This means that the local area includes both connections to surrounding places and circular routes with the same starting and ending point. The routes differ in their specific landscape settings: Route 46 runs over less demanding terrain, Route 6121 follows the route via Horní Potoky and Nivy towards the Janišov valley, while “Kolem pramene Rokytenky” and “Vyhlídka z Kapky” begin in Lhota u Vsetína and end there again.

History and Crafts

The history of the place is also reflected in the domestic activities that were once widespread. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, shingles, pocket knives, whetstones, glass beads and wicker goods were made at home in Lhota u Vsetína. This list illustrates the variety of the craftwork and the materials that played a role in it.

In Lhota u Vsetína, the Josef Barna memorial also commemorates a fallen soldier of the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps. The memorial to the victims of the Second World War is a monument of local significance and is not protected. Both sites therefore form part of the village’s visible culture of remembrance, although their historical classifications differ.
