Hošťálková: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hošťálková lies 9 km west of Vsetín in the valley of the Ratibořka and its tributaries. The settlement is scattered across the hilly terrain of the Hostýnské vrchy, combining a broad landscape with notable historic buildings. The nearest railway station to Hošťálková is located in Jablůnka.

Landscape and Scenery

The viewpoints include Bludný. From its summit, there are views of Kelčský Javorník, the Hostýnské vrchy and the Javorníky. Rare plants grow on the grassy slopes, particularly on the northern slope. The covered observation platform of Rozhledna Maruška, at a height of 12 m, offers expansive views: from there, the panorama extends over the Hostýnské vrchy, the Vizovické vrchy, the Javorníky, the Moravskoslezské Karpaty, the Beskydy, the Vsetínské vrchy, Kelčský Javorník, Radhošť with Pustevny, Lysá hora, Kohútka and Hošťálková.

Rozhledna Maruška itself is a two-storey wooden observation tower. It stands at an elevation of 664 m, is 16 m high and has been open to the public since 2014. Čertovy Skály have a different character: erosion has formed honeycomb-like structures, overhangs, cornices, ledges, crevices and a small rock window in the whitish, in places honey-coloured rocks.

Culture and History

The château in Hošťálková is a building in the late Classicist style dating from the mid-19th century. The village centre is also home to rural farmstead No. 16. It has been a cultural monument since 1999 and is considered the last surviving example of timber-built folk architecture of a uniform type representing the original Valašsko house in the village centre.

Another historic building is the Roman Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Hošťálková, which dates from 1798. In 1831, a stone toleration chapel in the Neoclassical style was also built in Hošťálková. Inside is a valuable baptismal font dating from 1791. Buildings and details from different eras therefore stand side by side in the village, ranging from the original Valašsko house to the sacred buildings of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Trails, Views and Orientation

Výhledové okno is located on a route from the centre of Hošťálková towards Čertovy Skály. It can be reached by bus to the “Hošťálková, tělocvična” stop or by car; parking spaces are available in the village centre. At 27 km, the Naučná stezka Tesák is the longest educational trail in Valašsko. Along the route are 23 stops covering the natural sights of the Vsetínsko region and the main ridge of the Hostýnské vrchy. The route is suitable for walkers and cyclists.

A nearly 5 km-long, demanding ascent leads to Rozhledna Maruška from Hošťálková château. From the Na Trojáku saddle, the observation tower can be reached via a walk of approximately 2 km. Both routes can be ridden with a road bike. Wooden rest areas with integrated information boards, modern bicycle boxes powered by solar energy and bicycle service stands have also been installed in Hošťálková.
