Holiday apartment in Sazovice: Local History Museum and Church of Saint Wenceslas
Sazovice combines an engaging local history, living traditions and practical opportunities for sports and physical activity. The Local History Museum and the Church of Saint Wenceslas are particularly notable. There is also a multifunctional oval, a swimming pool, a badminton hall, a tennis court, as well as paths and routes that connect the village with a variety of excursion options.
Culture
The Sazovice Local History Museum was opened on 28 September 2010 in House No. 21. On display are furniture and household items characteristic of domestic culture from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century. Visits can be arranged through the Sazovice municipal office.
The Church of Saint Wenceslas represents a distinctive architectural theme of its own. It was consecrated on 13 May 2017 and has a cylindrical shape reminiscent of a paper roll from which sheets are peeling away. The church is dedicated to Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of the municipality.
Traditions
One of Sazovice's cultural features is Starý hanácký právo, a folk tradition that is still maintained today. The tradition includes a festive procession with rychtáři. During it, the law represented by ribbons is handed over. A programme dedicated to Starý hanácký právo was scheduled in Sazovice for 6 and 7 June 2026.
Sports and Physical Activity
The multifunctional oval in Sazovice is used for sports activities year-round. In winter, weather permitting, an ice rink is provided there for recreational ice skating. The swimming pool measures 25 × 12 metres and is 1.1 to 1.5 metres deep.
The badminton hall has a badminton court measuring 13.4 × 6.10 metres and can also be used for group training. It also features a marked floorball court. The tennis court can be rented and has a clay surface.
Routes
The pilgrimage route from Sazovice to Zlín runs along unpaved paths. Cyclists will also find Sazovice included in a prepared tour: the route “3 days of cycling in Otrokovice and its surroundings” passes the architecturally valuable Church of Saint Wenceslas and is described as an easy route.
For bus connections, route 154 serves the “Sazovice, Jednota” stop. It runs via Mysločovice to both Zlín and Holešov.
