Holiday apartment in Lukoveček between tuff springs and culture

Lukoveček combines historical landmarks, natural monuments and regularly held events. The chapel in the centre, built in 1879, was ceremonially consecrated on 21 September 1884. Near the chapel, a monument commemorates the first Czechoslovak president, T. G. Masaryk. It was erected in 1932 and unveiled again in 1945. Lukoveček is also said to be home to a Stone Age Stations of the Cross.

Culture

The cultural features thus range from the chapel to historical memorials and a Stone Age Stations of the Cross. The Masaryk memorial not only preserves the name of the first Czechoslovak president in the public sphere, but also has its own history over time: its erection in 1932 was followed by its being unveiled again in 1945.

Nature

One of Lukoveček’s defining landscape features lies in the cadastral area of the municipality. The Pod Obecním kopcem natural monument protects forest tuff springs; species-rich beech forest communities dominate its woodland. This natural monument is located approximately 3.3 kilometres northeast of Lukoveček at an altitude of 480 to 565 metres. There, a species-rich beech forest with several forest springs characterises the area.

Pernikářská also represents the connection between forest and springs. The area comprises woodland with a tuff spring, while the Pernikářská natural monument protects forest tuff springs. Its wider surroundings provide an important refuge and breeding habitat for several bird species. The Ondřejovsko natural monument, located in the cadastral area of Lukoveček, is another feature.

There are also fossil finds near Lukoveček in the limestone known as Dubové hory. The flooded quarry east of the disused quarry is known as Doležalova skala or Mořské oko. North of Lukoveček, the disused sandstone-wall quarry was designated a significant landscape-forming element in 2004.

Getting around

Different types of routes are available for travelling through the landscape. A 40-kilometre cycle route passes through Holešov, Lukoveček, Fryšták, Březová, Rusava, Lukoveček and Velká Bystřice. The Rusavské chodníčky route is 12 kilometres long, moderately difficult and has 510 metres of ascent; it passes via the Lukoveček turn-off.

A dedicated educational trail begins at the bridge at the place called “Pod dědinů”. It runs upstream from the village centre along the Fryštácký potok, is approximately 1 kilometre long and is equipped with four information boards along the Fryštácký potok. Thus, a longer cycle route, a moderately difficult route with 510 metres of ascent and a short educational trail with explanatory boards are available as clearly distinct route options.

Sport and play

The multi-purpose sports complex in Lukoveček includes an artificial-turf pitch for football, nohejbal, volleyball and basketball. The complex also includes a children’s play area with a rope pyramid, swings, seesaws for toddlers and a slide with a tower.

Events

The Končinová tradition is regularly maintained in Lukoveček with a carnival procession led by a shaggy bear and the symbolic burial of the double bass. A tasting of Slivovice is held around the turn of February and March. At the regularly held event “Dračky a mašlovačky”, visitors can try traditional crafts. Around the turn of July and August, the “Festiválek na Kopečku” is dedicated to folk and country music.
