Holiday apartment in Pozlovice: Reservoir, Nature Trails and Culture

Pozlovice lies on the southern edge of the Vizovická vrchovina highlands and on the boundary of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The Luhačovická Reservoir was built on the Šťávnice River in Pozlovice at the beginning of the 20th century. It is used for sports, recreation and fishing. During the summer months, the Duha outdoor swimming pool offers opportunities for swimming and relaxation, as well as a pool with water attractions. The outdoor swimming pool also has a children's playground and refreshment facilities.

Water and Leisure

The Stezka zdraví health trail, with around ten outdoor exercise stations, runs around the Luhačovická Reservoir. The trail also includes play equipment for children aged three to twelve. In addition, a multi-purpose sports field is available by the school in Pozlovice for tennis, small-sided football, basketball, volleyball, football tennis and other physical activities.

A tourist tram runs on the Luhačovice–Pozlovice route. On the return journey, the route passes through Pozlovice and by the Church of Saint Martin.

Trails and Nature

Several nature trails provide access to the surrounding area, each with a different focus. The Antonín Václavík Nature Trail begins in the centre of Pozlovice next to the music pavilion. It passes the Church of Saint Martin and the immovable cultural monument of Niva before continuing to Luhačovice.

The Skřítka Větrníka Nature Trail in the Větrník landscape features six stations focusing on wind, wind energy and the concept of a climatic spa resort. Its facilities include wooden play elements, wooden benches for resting and a picnic set. Another nature trail at the Luhačická Reservoir presents the history of the former Šťavnica Valley, mills that have since disappeared, floods in Luhačovice, and the construction and present-day state of the reservoir.

A blue-marked hiking trail also connects various historical points of interest: it leads from Starý Světlov Castle to Luhačovice and through Pozlovice.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Martin in Pozlovice was rebuilt in stone in 1642 and enlarged in 1672 with an extension and side chapels. The church complex is protected as a cultural monument. It includes four stone tombs and a stone crucifix. The church has historic organs that were acquired between 1790 and 1798 and have since been restored.

The historic appearance of the village also includes the vicarage and other protected structures. The Pozlovice vicarage was built in 1757 in the Baroque style, bearing the coat of arms of the Counts of Serenyi. The protected vicarage complex comprises the vicarage, utility buildings with stables and a barn, an enclosing wall and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.

Other registered cultural monuments are located along roads and at crossroads. The wayside shrine on the country road to Horní Lhota dates from the early 18th century. The wayside shrine at the Řetechov crossroads dates from 1719. Both are registered as cultural monuments. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Pozlovice is also registered as a cultural monument and dates from 1774.

The historic surroundings also include the ruins of Starý Světlov Castle. Clearly visible stone walls remain; restoration and conservation work stabilises the masonry and protects the cultural monument.
