Holiday apartment in Vysoké Pole: Klášťov and the “Kočárková stezka”

The remains of the prehistoric and early medieval hillfort of Klášťov are located within the municipality of Vysoké Pole at an altitude of 753 metres. Klášťov is also the highest peak in the Vizovice Highlands in the Zlín Region.

Culture

Klášťov is a prehistoric and early medieval fortified settlement and the highest hillfort site of its kind in Moravia. The hillfort complex was first built sometime between approximately 900 and 750 BC, during the transition from the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age. Iron deposits as well as agricultural and craft tools were discovered at Klášťov. These finds are linked to its interpretation as a cult centre of the ancient Slavs.

The cultural history of Vysoké Pole also includes the pilgrimage chapel of the Virgin Mary, known as “Vysocká”. The present-day chapel was consecrated on 5 June 1876; it was built in 1748 near a spring whose water is described as having healing properties. From Valašské Klobouky railway station, the chapel can be reached via Mirošov, Drnovice and Vysoké Pole along a 12-kilometre walking route. The station is located on line 283.

Nature

The Envicentrum in Vysoké Pole is an environmental centre that organises educational and informational events. Envicentrum PRO KRAJINU Vysoké Pole is primarily dedicated to preserving traditional land-management methods in this region. Visitors can spend time with the farm animals there and walk through the countryside.

Trails and landscape

The “Kočárková stezka” is also suitable for pushchairs and runs along paved paths. Both routes begin in the centre of Vysoké Pole, where a car can be parked. They lead to points of interest in the surroundings of Vysoké Pole: one runs to the national cultural monument at the site of the burned-down settlement of Ploština, while the other leads to the chapel of the Virgin Mary, known as “Vysocká”, with the spring whose water is described as having healing properties.

The Vysoké Pole lookout tower is a 15-metre-high structure made of larch beams on a concrete base. It can be reached on foot directly from Vysoké Pole. The route “Over Klášťov to the Ploština Memorial” begins in the centre of Vysoké Pole and offers views of the White Carpathians.
