Discover Mysločovice – Holiday Apartment, Culture and Cycle Paths

Mysločovice combines medieval traces, ecclesiastical culture and varied routes in a hilly lowland landscape. Between a preserved fortress, historical evidence of mills, living traditions and cycling opportunities, very different facets come together here in a small area.

History and Culture

An archaeological mound was discovered in the centre of Mysločovice on the grounds of Farm No. 9. It was identified as the core of a medieval fortress with an earthen rampart. The preserved core of this fortress rises in places up to 5 m above the surrounding terrain and is 23 m long and 13 m wide. Another remarkable detail can be found in the brick wall of the barn at Farm No. 9: an oval Gothic keystone is set into it, whose inner side bears a stylized Gothic tracery motif.

The sacred buildings also tell the story of the village. The chapel “Kaple sv. Jana Nepomuckého” was built in 1730 and declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic on 14 February 1994. The church “Kostel Nejsvětější Trojice” was built between 1752 and 1758 on a hill in the centre of the village. Its furnishings include restored Baroque organs; the lime trees around the church are also protected under nature conservation law.

Palkův mlýn adds another historical testimony. The mill is mentioned around 1409, when it was owned by Jiřík z Kunštátu and his sister Žofka. Some of the mill’s original equipment has been preserved in Palkův mlýn.

Traditions

Local customs include the Shrovetide tradition of “vodění medvěda”, maintained annually by the SDH. Another tradition is the “Staré hanácké právo”, which is held every ten years in Haná costumes. The years given are 1928, 1949, 1965, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007 and most recently 2017. Alongside the built heritage, recurring cultural forms therefore also play a central role in the village.

Landscape

Mysločovice combines a lowland landscape in the Svodnice catchment area with predominantly agricultural, hilly terrain. Háj Hill reaches 285 m above sea level, making it the highest point in the Mysločovice area. The landscape here is therefore not a continuous flatland, but features clearly perceptible rises and agriculturally shaped areas.

Cycle Paths and Routes

Cyklopark Mysločovice is a small, enjoyable singletrack trail. Even small children can manage it, while it also appeals to experienced mountain bikers. The varied route leads through trees and includes climbs as well as technical descents. Some sections cross wooden bridges spanning grooves and depressions.

Marked cycle path No. 5034 from Fryšták to Kelč also passes through the cadastral area of Mysločovice. In autumn 2011, a new unmarked cycle path was opened connecting Mysločovice and Sazovice. It is approximately 1 km long and is also intended for pedestrians.
