Holiday apartment in Hvozdná – nature trail, church and theatre culture
Hvozdná brings the history of the town to life at many specific sites. The Hvozdná nature trail leads to nine stations with information boards. Each one explains the place name of the site and how it originated. The nature trail is dedicated to the recipients of the commemorative medal of the Municipality of Hvozdná. In this way, the stations connect local names, memories and the development of the town.
Things to do
Access to the U Větřáku crossroads leads from Hvozdná via cycle route 5036, which has a steady incline. For a cycling tour, this characteristic of the route is one of the specific conditions to take into account. Day, weekend and annual fishing permits are available at Argalaška Pond. A day permit is valid for one carp and two crucian carp, while a weekend permit is valid for two carp and four crucian carp. Annual permits are available in limited numbers.
Culture
One of the town’s central historical landmarks is the Church of All Saints in Hvozdná. It was built in 1784. The church contains an altarpiece from 1890 depicting, alongside Czech patron saints, the so-called Fourteen Holy Helpers. The historic bells include two large bells from 1598 and 1642. The construction period, imagery and collection of bells thus bring together different eras within the same church interior.
Theatre is also part of the town’s cultural history. The Divadlo Hvozdná theatre building opened in 1929. The amateur theatre tradition in Hvozdná dates back to 1909. The Kroužek divadelních ochotníků from Hvozdná was selected five times for the national showcase of rural theatre ensembles in Vysoké nad Jizerou.
Events
The area around Argalaška Pond continues to host concerts by Jiří Březík. These concerts are part of the pond area’s ongoing cultural traditions. In addition, the Lovka area is used for other cultural events.
The various sites bring together different facets of the town: the nature trail preserves references to place names and their origins, the Church of All Saints represents architectural history, visual art and historic bells, while Divadlo Hvozdná and the local theatre traditions shape the performing arts culture. In the Argalaška Pond area, fishing permits and the concert tradition that continues to this day are additional features; the Lovka area complements this cultural setting with further events.
