Nature

The Nad Kašavou nature monument is located in the cadastral area of Kašava. The habitat of a mesophilic false oat-grass meadow is protected there. Rare plants and rare animals occur in the Nad Kašavou area, including the sand lizard, red-backed shrike and golden oriole. The educational trail passes a pond that is considered an interesting natural phenomenon.

From Vrzavé skály, there is a view southwest towards the Vizovice Hills, the water surface of the Slušovice Reservoir and the Kašava valley. From the upland meadow near Vinohrádek, the Vizovice Hills and Doubrava peak, with its television transmitter and observation tower, can be seen. When planning viewpoints, you can note the viewing direction and the destinations mentioned separately. The nature monument, animal and plant occurrences, and the pond can also be considered side by side as distinct nature topics.

Trails

The Naučná stezka Kašava educational trail is 17.5 km long and has 11 stations, 2 benches, 32 signposts and 14 Stations of the Cross. Its topics include local history, the parish system, the school, traditions, folklore, customs, motorsport, the vanished settlement of Janůvky, the crash of an American bomber in 1944, as well as nature, springs and viewpoints.

The Stations of the Cross leads uphill towards Vinohrádek above Kašava and is lined with 14 traditional biblical stations. It follows a yellow hiking trail marking and comes close to the educational trail’s second station near Vinohrádek. A descent through the forest from Vrzavé skály passes the Liduška spring and continues along the return route towards Kašava. The hiking trail through Kašava passes the Chapel of Panny Marie Královny at Vinohrádek.

The details on length, stations, signposts and benches offer several points of comparison for planning the day. When considering different types of routes, you can assess the uphill Stations of the Cross, the descent through the forest and the route through Kašava separately.

Culture

The hiking trail also features a monument to fallen American airmen.

In Kašava, the church “kostel sv. Kateřiny” is a protected cultural monument and a Baroque building dating from before the middle of the 18th century. The existence of the church and its right of patronage are documented in the land registers for the year 1480; Saint Catherine was chosen as its patron saint. It was founded as a new Baroque stone church in 1745.
