Holiday apartment in Kaňovice: Cultural heritage on the edge of the Vizovické vrchy

Kaňovice lies on the northwestern edge of the Vizovické vrchy. A heritage conservation zone was designated in Kaňovice in 1994; the historic centre is also recorded as an area with archaeological finds. These two characteristics of the village already bring together its landscape setting and its archaeologically documented history.

Landscape and Waterways

The lowest point of Kaňovice lies at 240 m above sea level. It is located where the Černý potok leaves the municipal area towards Biskupice. The location of the lowest point is therefore precisely connected with the course of the stream and its direction.

Culture and History

One of the village’s defining structures is the Chapel of Panna Maria Prostřednice všech milostí in Kaňovice. It was built by local residents in 1951–1952. The shell of the chapel was completed within 14 days; the foundation stone was blessed on 10 May 1951. The years and the short construction period are just as much a part of the chapel’s history as the involvement of the local residents.

Several traditional customs are still maintained in Kaňovice: the carnival procession with masks, the fašankový průvod masek, the traditional Easter custom „klepání“, velikonoční „klepání“, as well as the traditional event of erecting and felling the maypole, stavění a kácení máje. These three designations are part of the village’s traditional event culture.

Crafts and Local Symbols

The Hrabinova farmstead, known as „Rolnická usedlost č.p. 19“, is used to present and communicate traditional historic crafts. In 2011, the farmstead received an international award for outstanding earthen architecture in Europe. A personal visit to the renovated Hrabinova farmstead in Kaňovice can be arranged in advance through the municipal office.

Crosses and wayside shrines can be found in Kaňovice at the cemetery, by the chapel and along the roads towards Seče, Biskupice and Velký Ořechov. Their locations are thus distributed across the cemetery, the area around the chapel and several roads leading from the village in these directions.

Cycling Route

The cycling tour „Na kole z Luhačovic do Uherského Brodu“ runs from Luhačovice via Biskupice towards Kaňovice. At the Seče stop, it branches off towards Dobrkovice. The places mentioned and the junction form part of this described route.

If you have chosen Kaňovice as your destination, you can view holiday apartment offers and initially compare them based on their specific details. Clear, directly comparable information helps to assess the differences between the offers objectively. The details on each offer page should therefore be read in full and any open points checked again. This keeps your view of Kaňovice connected with a sober review of the conditions stated for each offer.
