Holiday apartment in Pacetluky: Forest Trails and Village History
Pacetluky lies on the border between the fertile Haná region and Záhoří. The Kostelecký Forest, an 800-hectare forest massif rich in wildlife, reaches right up to the village. The Koteleckým lesem educational trail also passes through Pacetluky; it is 23.8 km long.
Nature
Near Pacetluky are the ruins of Hrádek, a former Gothic fortress; only the moat remains. Also nearby, in the Kostelecký Forest, is Zámeček, a former hunting lodge built in the mid-18th century that now serves as a forester's house. According to local tradition, two peaks in the Kostelecký Forest are called Kača and Tereza. Thus, alongside the historical traces, traditional names are also part of the landscape around Pacetluky.
Cycling Connections
A cycling route popular with cyclists passes through Pacetluky. It follows a forest road through the Kostelecký Forest and connects to a local road from Karlovice. Another cycling connection runs along a paved field path from Pacetluky through Bořenovice to Holešov; Holešov is part of cycling route 5033.
History and Culture
The first written mention of Pacetluky dates back to 1131. The traces found in the fields reach even further back: stone hammers, axes and flint knives discovered there show that the area was already settled in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds of burial mounds in the Kostelecký Forest are attributed to the Neolithic and Bronze Age. Pacetluky is also home to a chapel from 1946 dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Written local history, prehistoric finds and a 20th-century religious building thus stand side by side.
At the cadastral boundary between Pacetluky and Prusinovice stands a cross erected in 1922. Opposite the school building in Pacetluky stands another cross, erected in 1909. There is also a cross beside the road halfway between Pacetluky and Prusinovice. The three locations differ in their exact position and chronological classification.
Village Life
The Pacetlucké hodové slavnosti are part of the local annual cycle. They are a recurring two-day village festival.
