Lipová lies in the valley of the Lipovský potok and in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The village’s cadastral area combines natural features with a number of notable architectural and commemorative landmarks. These include three sulfur springs, as well as chapels, a belfry, a folk architecture house and a protected stone cross.

Landscape

There are three sulfur springs in the cadastral area of Lipová. A nature trail, established in 2005, leads to the sulfur springs and cultural monuments. In addition, the Tatarka educational nature trail runs through Lipová and the valley of the Lipovský potok. The Memorial Beech (Fagus sylvatica) stands along the trail; its age is estimated at 300 to 400 years. It is considered one of the oldest beech trees in the entire region and has a trunk circumference of 5.18 m.

Culture

A prominent example of the local architectural and commemorative heritage is the Chapel of Our Lady of the Sistine. It bears the year 1766 and is registered as immovable cultural monument no. 1961. The chapel contains a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes.

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas was built in 1929 at the expense of the inhabitants of Lipová. The chapel has a memorial plaque bearing the names of Lipová residents who fell in the First World War. There is also a belfry with two bells in the village square.

The local monuments also include House No. 79. It is a folk architecture monument dating from 1851 and bears monument identification number 1963. A stone cross with relief decoration, signed by S. Minařík in 1876, is protected as immovable cultural monument no. 1962.

Getting there

The nearest railway station is in Slavičín. Lipová lies on the Slavičín–Haluzice–Vizovice road. This provides both a specific railway connection and a named road link for locating the village.
