Holiday apartment in Jalubí: Baroque church and historic windmill

Culture and history

The religious architecture includes Jalubí’s present-day Baroque church and a High Baroque chapel. Construction of the present Baroque church began in 1750 under Abbot Antonín Haucke. The High Baroque chapel on the old road to Velehrad, on the hill above Jalubí, was built in 1737 and is freely accessible. Another link to the history of the village is the protected toll stone of Jalubí. It points to a trade route that passed through the village.

The toll stone was given its present location in 1998: it was moved from its original site outside the village and placed under a shelter on the main road in Jalubí. An information board provides further explanations. Thus, the historic marker not only represents the former trade route but is also accompanied by specific information on site.

The windmill, too, leads into a different historical period. The historic windmill in Jalubí was in operation by 1875 at the latest. The windmill in Jalubí is a replica built from 2007 to 2009 on the exposed foundations of the original mill, which was demolished in 1938. Under the name “Klášterní stezky: Jalubí”, a route leads to the late Baroque church “Church of St John the Baptist”. Thus, alongside the individual buildings, the village also has a named route whose destination is this church.

Activities

In addition to its historic sites, Jalubí offers several clearly defined opportunities for active leisure. The minigolf course has 10 holes with obstacles of varying difficulty. The beach volleyball court can also be used for beach football. Both facilities retain their respective stated equipment and form of use.

During the summer months, the Jalubí outdoor swimming pool offers a stainless-steel pool with swimming lanes as well as a children’s pool with water features such as spray jets and a slide. A cycling tour leads to Jalubí via cycle route 5050. The village landscape therefore features both sports facilities and a designated connection for a cycling tour, while the outdoor pool focuses its special offerings on the summer months.

Landscape

Access to the windmill in Jalubí follows a field track after the end of the paved path. Views of the Chřiby and White Carpathians open up along the way. The transition from the paved path to the field track and the view of these two landscape areas are an integral part of this access route.
