Stránecká Zhoř Castle is a Renaissance castle dating from the second half of the 16th century. It was built on the site of a Gothic fortress dating from the second half of the 14th century.
Culture
In the former castle in Stránecká Zhoř, the Chapel of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux was rebuilt between 2004 and 2019 in the spirit of traditional construction. It makes use of a former vault dating from the second half of the 16th century. Holy Mass is regularly celebrated in the chapel. In the wider regional area around Stránecká Zhoř, there is also Svatý Marek, a church.
Culinary History
The restored so-called Černá kuchyně is accessible from the castle courtyard. When in operation, cooking, baking and roasting can be carried out over an open fire in the reconstructed so-called Černá kuchyně. Since 2014, culinary events featuring demonstrations based on historical recipes have been held there regularly.
Events
Guided tours of Stránecká Zhoř Castle have been offered repeatedly. These included a guided commentary tour during the open day held for the municipality anniversary in 2026, as well as the fourth guided tour announced for 7 August 2026. Admission was voluntary during the Svatováclavské ohně; visitors were able to take a look inside the newly furnished Chapel of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux.
Landscape
Dědkovská hora, Panský kopec, Hradiště and Řehořovský vrch are located in the area around Stránecká Zhoř; all four are mountains. In the wider regional area, there is also Smetanovy sady, a park.
