Rozsochy focuses on preserved architectural heritage and traditional festivals. Between the railway station, church and paths through the village, a history emerges that remains tangible in architectural forms, dates and established customs.

History and Architectural Heritage

A particularly notable historic structure is the railway station’s auxiliary building in Rozsochy. It is a cultural monument dating from 1903–1904 and has been preserved in an exceptionally authentic form. Its surviving features include stained-glass doors, decorative boarded gables, ornamental beam ends and stone corbels.

The Church of St. Bartholomew also preserves an older core of the building and features late Baroque architecture typical of ecclesiastical buildings. The oldest written mention of the church known to date is from 1285; from 1763 onward, it underwent extensive Baroque alterations. Several stone monuments stand beside the church: the sandstone statue of St. John of Nepomuk bears the year 1766 on its pedestal, while the sandstone statue of the Archangel Michael bears the year 1767. The sandstone crucifix statue beside the church bears the year 1772 on its pedestal.

Festivals and Customs

The annual cycle in Rozsochy includes the Ostatková zábava festival with the burial of Masopust, held every year on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. At the end of 2025, it was added to the list of intangible elements of the traditional folk culture of the Vysočina Region. The ritual is based on established ceremonial roles, including a master of ceremonies, bell ringers, a military guard, burial assistants, a widow and a priest.

The Bartolomějská pouť pilgrimage festival includes a morning Mass in the Church of St. Bartholomew. It also features a craft market, fairground attractions, refreshments and fairground sales. Participation in the craft market requires one’s own handmade production or a practical demonstration of the production process.

An autumn pilgrimage with a church dedication festival takes place in Rozsochy on a Sunday around the feast day of St. Gall, 16 October.
