Radostín Nad Oslavou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The centre of Radostín nad Oslavou is dominated by the complex of the Church of St Bartholomew. It is the most significant historic building in the village and also the only noteworthy monument in Radostín nad Oslavou listed in the state register of immovable cultural monuments.

Culture and History

The parish church complex comprises the parish church building, a detached tower, a detached chapel and a masonry boundary wall. The original complex of the Early Gothic church was rebuilt in the Late Baroque style in the 1770s. During the reconstruction, the nave was extended by approximately one third and the tower was raised by the present bell stage.

North of Radostín nad Oslavou, the Tři kříže group on Šibeniční vrch forms a Calvary scene. Together with the mature trees, it is a distinctive landscape feature. Švomův mlýn lies east of the centre by the bridge on the road to Kněževes. The mill building was already standing in Radostín nad Oslavou around 1510.

Landscape and Nature

Radostín nad Oslavou is situated in a gently hilly landscape of slopes and fields, bordered on the horizon by forests. Streams flow through the valleys around the village, and numerous ponds were built along them in the past. The Oslava is the largest watercourse associated with Radostín nad Oslavou.

In the wider regional surroundings of Radostín nad Oslavou, Bohdalovsko Nature Park includes numerous ponds with rare plants and animals.

Traditions and Events

The Becheráček amateur theatre group in Radostín nad Oslavou was officially founded in 1911; its tradition continues to this day. The group regularly holds its premiere in March. The six subsequent performances are attended by approximately 1,200 spectators from Radostín nad Oslavou and the wider surrounding area.

At the Tvořivé večery events, participants make arrangements from dried and fresh plants, wire and beadwork, batik, embroidery, crochet, felted sheep's wool and various decorations, among other things. Since 2013, a Christmas exhibition has been prepared annually during Advent, and since 2016, an Easter exhibition has also been held. The proceeds from admission fees and the sale of the products are used for charitable purposes.

A cycle route runs through Radostín nad Oslavou and forms part of a thematic long-distance cycling route almost 185 kilometres long.
